What is RPI MUG?
The RPI Macintosh Users Group (MUG) is a club at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with students, staff, faculty, and community members. RPI MUG has at times been the largest computer-oriented club at RPI, for many years holding meetings on a weekly basis. Today, Macs are more common on campus than in the past, and somewhat ironically, there has been less interest in formal club meetings. Therefore, the MUG operates mainly through the mailing list and other informal methods.
How can I join?
If you join the MAC-USERS mailing list below, we consider you to be a member of the community.
How do I communicate with the MUG?
There are currently two Macintosh-related mailing lists available at RPI. MAC-USERS-L is the primary mailing list.
This is a strictly-moderated low-traffic announcement list for new products and events. Login to https://lists.rpi.edu/reguser/listutil/MAC-NEWS-L with your RCS userid to join this list.
This is a faculty/staff/student-oriented support/discussion list. Users on this can also be subscribed in "digest" form, in case it gets chatty. In this mode, messages from the list are received as one automatic daily compilation, overnight. Login to https://lists.rpi.edu/reguser/listutil/MAC-USERS-L to join this list.
An instant messaging system called Lily is maintained at RPI, and has hundreds of active members who are alumni or current members of the Rensselaer community. The system has several highly active instant messaging discussions pertaining to the Macintosh, OSX, as well as hundreds of other topics. You will need to request a lily account, and install a lily client. Some basic unix knowledge may be required to install and run this. Send a message to the MAC-USERS-L list to get help with joining this system.
